Bestiary, War Prints and Visions
Motifs of animals and animal-human hybrids recur in the prints as a form of animalism or to express the bestial nature of humankind. Conversely, the etchings from life are in a way, homages, where looking closely, patiently, and trying to fix that looking becomes a form of reverence. I like to keep my work psychologically ambiguous, preferring questions to resolutions.

City Fragments
City Fragments is a satirical suite based on sculptures and statues in the city of Leeds often unseen and under-appreciated. Despite their farcical appearance the etchings embody recurring themes of displacement and homelessness, with the attendant search for peace and a place of belonging. They also reflect my love of art history, for example 'The Gothic Vaults' based on the victorian library's grand staircase brought to mind Piranesi's 'Imaginary Prisons' and melds these two visionary inspirations.
