Bestiary and Heads
Animals and Animal-Human hybrids have been a recurring motif in my work as a form of animalism or to express the bestial nature of humankind with references to war and conflict, and with that, inner conflict. The prints also reflect the physical and intellectual pleasure of translating looking (which itself is a form of homage) onto an aluminium plate with a steel point. The visceral and tactile drypoint process is reflected in the final image.

City Fragmnets
City Fragments is a satirical series of etchings based on sculptures and statues in the city of Leeds often hidden above eye level. My love of art history is also expressed; for example the victorian library with its grand staircase brought to mind Piranesi's 'Imaginary Prisons' which is reflected in 'The Gothic Vaults' etching.
There are recurring themes of conflict, civic development versus disenfranchisement, and a search for peace and a place of belonging, as stone and bronze are brought to life in an exodus from the city.
